Jailbreaking

Jailbreaking can be difficult. But we've made it as easy as possible for you. Make SURE you follow the instructions word for word on this page!
>>NEW<< iOS 6 ALL DEVICE UNTETHERED JAILBREAK HERE!
You will need to download Absinthe, which can be found at this link: http://absinthejailbreak.org/download-absinthe-5-1-1-untethered-jailbreak/
Now before you begin, make sure your iPod is on firmware 5.1.1. If not, go on iTunes and update it (it might update automatically, if not, click on your iPod's icon and click "check for software update."
This Jailbreak will work for 3rd and 4th generation iPod Touches only. Also, this specific jailbreak is an untethered jailbreak, which basically means you'll be able to turn your iPod on/off whenever you want. (For tethered jailbreaks, your iPod has to be connected to a computer, which is just stupid.)
Before we begin, we'll go over the risks of jailbreaking:
Absinthe is one of the best ways to jailbreak--it is quick, and has an extremely high success rate. If you follow all of the directions, you'll honestly have no problem. However, it is easy to accidently skip over something, and that's when things go wrong. Some people have said they've lost everything on their iPods...but they weren't following the directions. And even if that does happen to you, if your iPod is backed up to your computer, you can always restore it to its original settings. To do this, go on iTunes, click on the icon of your iPod on the left side of the screen, and click "Restore" and wait for your iPod to restore, which takes 5-10 minutes. Do not unplug your iPod during the restore or Jailbreak process! DO NOT! Check to make sure that the brown Cydia icon is on your ipod before you close Absinthe and disconnect your ipod from your computer.
And also, make sure any passcodes on your iPod are removed; if not, they will prevent Absinthe for accessing and therefore jailbreaking your device.
Now that you've downloaded Absinthe, let's begin:
1. Extract the Absinthe files to a reasonable place, such as your desktop or documents folder. Double click on the files once extracted--this should put them in a folder called "Absinthe" or something along those lines.
2. Click on the Absinthe icon. It should be a green skull made out of an apple. If a black screen with white lines of text flashes on your screen, you didn't do it right.
3. Absinthe should open. Make sure you iPod is connected and wait for Absinthe to detect your device. Then click "jailbreak."
4. Wait for Absinthe to do its thing, keeping your iPod connected. Don't touch your iPod! I mean, you can pick it up, but don't tap the screen or press any buttons. This should take about two minutes or even less, depending on your iPod's generation and amount of storage space.
5. When the Jailbreak is complete, DO NOT close Absinthe until your are sure that the brown Cynthia icon is on your desktop. If it isn't, your iPod is either still jailbreaking, or the jailbreak didn't work. If it didn't work it is either becuase you did not follow the instructions or your iPod is not compatible with Absinthe (meaning it does not have at least a gigabyte of memory left for Cydia, or that your iPod isn't on the correct firmware or is not the right generation)
Well, hope this helped! Enjoy your newly jailbroken iPod!
Now what? We have another page where you'll learn how to use Cydia and Cyder 2, it should be called "Cydia and Cyder." Look for it!
