The Basics

You just got a new iPod Touch? Lucky! Apple gave you a tiny little booklet that didn't tell you anything, right? Yeah, that's how it was when I got my ipod Touch, too. I mean, all that told you was how to turn the thing on!!
Want an iPod Touch? How 'bout a free one? Click here!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well, now that you probably have it turned on and are eager to use it, here are some things you should know.
1. When on the Internet, texting (yes, you can do that on your iPod!) or typing within an app, it can be hard to poke at the little tiny buttons. So, to make your keyboard larger, put your iPod at a horizontal angle and your keyboard will become larger! If your iPod is already horizontal, well, unless you buy a fancy iPod touch keyboard or stylus, you're out of luck.
About texting, it's called 'iMessages' on your iPod. The app should come with your ipod and be on your dock. You can only message other Apple devices, but there are apps out there that let you text cell phones! (My favorite is Textfree)
2. You can delete apps and songs you don't want without using a computer. To delete a song, tap your Music library and find the song you want to delete. Slide your finger across it, and a red "delete" button should show up. To delete apps, on your home screen, hold your finger down on the app you want to delete for a few seconds. All your apps should then start "rumbling." Unfortunately, you cannot delete the defualt apps (apps that cma ealready installed on your iPod, such as Safari, Camera, and iMessages). Tap the apps you want to delete.
3. Don't like your iPod being cluttered with default apps you never use? There's no way to delete them (though there may be a jailbreak tweak, you can jailbreak your iPod here), but you can move them to your "Utilities" 'folder.' You can also create new folders, too, to organize your apps.
4. Want to capture an action pick while you're playing your favorite game, or take a pick of that aweomse picutre you created in that app that keeps saying you have to buy the upgrades to save your pics? Simple. Hold down the power button for 1 second, then the homescreen button. Your screen will flash, and if you check your Camera roll (tap "pictures" app, its a defualt app and is the flower), you will see a screenshot. You cna edit the picture by tapping them, and tapping Edit. You can crop, enhance, or reduce redeye, and edit them even further through photo apps. My personal favorite is "Awesome Camera", which lives up to its name, and using the screenshot trick, you can use all the filter without buying the updgrades!
5. Want to capture a quick pic, but it takes forever to open the camera app? You cna acess your camera from your lock screen. Instead of sliding the "slide to unlock" button over, swipe your finger over the little icon of a camera. The lock screen will slide up, revealing your camera underneath. Magic!!!
